Iron Piston Inserts
for Aluminum Pistons
The B&O 2-axis or 4-axis Big-Bore CNC Turning Machines
are configured to produce cylinder liners, piston rings,
and piston inserts from centrifugally cast iron tubing
in one fully automatic operation. The precision,
high-speed, high-horsepower B&O spindle systems allow
the high surface speeds required with ceramic or diamond
inserts. The unique column-machine-design permits
running these iron parts dry (no coolant) with maximum
efficiency and minimal wear and tear on the machine tool. Life
expectancy of the column machine has proven to be up to
ten-times longer than the slant bed style machine running
similar materials.
