MYTH: If you take a factory job, that’s all you’ll ever do
If you don’t know much about manufacturing, you may think that starting on the low end of the scale means you’ll stay there and one day you’ll retire having done nothing but push the same button for 40 years.
Now it’s true that manufacturing employees tend to stay with the same company for a long time. Here at Bardons & Oliver, we have a lot of employees who have been with us more than 25 years.
But many of them have moved up the ranks over time. Meet Brett Baldi, our VIce President of Operations, who started out on the bottom rung and has since become part of our management team. Brett’s got a lot of great tips for people who may start on the factory floor but would like to keep growing.
Contract Machining Manager Barry Young has some input on this as well. Like Brett, Barry started on the factory floor and moved up through the ranks. He also points out that here at Bardons & Oliver, our employees can provide valued input and contribute to the end quality of work produced.
It’s up to you how well you do and how far you go. The sky’s the limit!
